The city’s prominence in terms of modern architecture proves to be a feat. It still has some residential complexes such as the Zaanstraat or Oostzaanstraat. A large concentration of these sites can be found at the eatern docklands, a zone that embraces three artificial lands; the Borneo, Sporenburg and Java/KNSM.

To get to know a little bit about the city’s history, tourists can hit the local museums. You can schedule a visit to the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum and the Allard Pierson Museum, which showcases most of the country’s archeological wonders artistic masterpieces. Museums are usually open from 10 AM to 5 PM.

For tourists visiting with their families, a visit to the local zoo and botanical garden could be a fine treat. There are the Hortus Botanicus and the Artis Zoo, which are within the vicinity of the city’s tourism hub. Of its many charms, the city manages to maintain a wide variety of plants, trees and animal coming from all over the world to delight its local and foreign guests.

Of the many activities you can do while you are in Amsterdam, hitting the Amsterdam Arena should give you a peak of the local’s devotion to football. Amsterdam Arena happens to be the home of the Dutch football club, the Ajax. If you want to get a taste of Dutch countryside, you can visit the nearby villages such as villages of Ransdorp, Zunderdorp, Schellingwoude or Durgerdam by taking a ferry ride, right behind Amsterdam’s Central Station. You can also explore the city by riding a boat in exploring its canals.

To enjoy Amsterdam’s gastronomic offerings, you can hit the Albert Heijn supermarkets for its famously cheap ready-to-go meals. The Maoz proves to be a blessing among vegetarians, thanks to its wide selection of falafels and pita breads. Check out the city’s “brown bars”, Irish music bars and local cafes to mingle with the couples while enjoying pints of Guiness and smoking Cannabis.

When you are already planning on where to spend you next vacation, Amsterdam surely makes a great choice. Aside from planning your itinerary, which mainly concludes which among the tourist hot spots to visit, you also need to consider the place where you should stay. Hostels and hotels can go from €17 to €495+ a night. However, you can save much when you choose to settle on a furnished Amsterdam rental.
Not only are they cheaper, renting an Amsterdam apartment gives you the freedom to explore the city and enjoy the city as much as the locals do.
